German President arrives for 3 days’ visit
The German President, Mr Franks Walter Steinmeier, is in the country on a three-day official visit.
He arrived Monday night and was met on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport by Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Steinmeier was accompanied by a delegation that includes the German Federal Minister for Economy and Energy, Mrs Brigitte Zypries; the Deputy Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Friedrich Kitschelt; the State Minister at the German Foreign Office, Maria Böhmer, and a number of German investors and representatives of civil society groups.
This will be the first state visit by the President of Germany who took office in February 2017.

The German leader would today meet with President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House where they would hold discussions bordering on deepening ties between the two countries.
The German President would later in the day open an Economic Forum organised by a delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
He is also expected to visit the Scania Training Workshop in the Tema Free Zones Enclave and later visit the University of Ghana, Legon, to open the Merian International Centre for Advanced Studies and subsequently hold discussion with experts and students of the university.

Mr Steinmeier would also visit the Ridge Hospital and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) at Teshie and receive first-hand information on the security situation in West Africa and later have round table-discussions with young Ghanaian entrepreneurs who are currently being supported by Germany with the aim of developing their businesses and linking them with international businesses, before his departure from the country.
