26 Corporate entities, business leaders honoured

An award ceremony to honour deserving and dedicated industry players in the trade and commerce sector has been held in Accra.

The ceremony, known as the 18th Ghana Premier Business and Finance Excellence Awards and 8th Ghana Business Leaders Excellence Awards, was organised by Top Brass Ghana.

It was on the theme: “Business and finance - Responding to the challenges of internal and external pressures.”

Awards

In all, twenty-six corporate entities and business leaders were honoured at this year's ceremony, with the Lifetime Achievement Awards going to the Founder, DDP Group, founding President, Ghana Real Estate Developers Association and past President of the Advertising Association of Ghana (Advertising), Dr Torgbor Mensah (Posthumous).

The other recipient was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Unity Group of Companies (Energy / Oil and Gas / Tourism / Hospitality / Media), Dr Kwame Kyei.

The President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), Stephane Miezan, urged businesses to adopt a robust risk management framework by improving financial management systems, investing in the vision of their businesses and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key elements

Mr Miezan, who is also the Vice-President of the Federation of West Africa Chambers of Commerce, mentioned some key elements to be considered under internal pressures as financial management, operational inefficiencies and talent management, and said some of the factors under external pressures included economic uncertainties, regulatory changes and market competition.

He called for proactive and strategic approaches through the identification of the sources of the pressures, saying developing effective responses should be adhered to.

That, he said, would help businesses to navigate challenges and also ensure long term sustainability.

A former World Tourism Organisation Consultant, Nana Baa Wiredu, commended the awardees for their contributions and exhibition of  high quality service and work towards the growth of the economy.

He urged businesses to adopt the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for business growth and completiveness.
