Each of the 340 communities in the district has benefited from at least one social amenity.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Alex Kwabena Incoom, announced this at a town hall meeting at Akyem Asene last Wednesday to showcase the achievements of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government since it took over the control of the nation.

The well-attended forum attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders, teachers, nurses, farmers and artisans.

Mr Incoom mentioned some of the projects undertaken by the assembly as classroom and dormitory blocks, markets, health centres, CHPS compounds, mechanised boreholes, electrification, road rehabilitation, abbatoirs, construction of public places of convenience and astro turfs.

Funding

He said the projects were financed with the assembly's share of the district assemblies common fund, the million dollars per constituency, as well as through lobby by the Member of Parliament (MP), George Kwame Aboagye, for external funding.

The DCE stated that the MP had offered scholarships for 575 students from the district studying in tertiary educational institutions.

According to him, 250 youth in the district had been recruited in some establishments through the help of the MP.

Mr Incoom said seven agricultural extension officers had been provided with motorbikes each, while each of the Police Stations at Akyem Akroso, Manso and Asene had received motorbike donations. He added that 10 Information Communication Technology (ICT) centres had been established for primary and junior high schools at Akroso, Manso and Asene.

He said the assembly had spent over GH¢800,000 to provide start-up working tools for 500 persons with disability to undertake professions of their choice.

The DCE stated that the assembly had also donated 6,400 mono and dual desks to some primary schools and JHSs in the district, while the number of basic schools benefiting from the school feeding programme had increased from 10 to 47.

He added that the assembly was constructing a modern residential accommodation for the DCE at the district capital, Manso which was nearing completion.

Mr Incoom stated that under the Agenda 111 health projects, a new district hospital was being constructed at Akyem Asuboa South, which had facilities such as consulting rooms, male, female and children's wards, pharmacy, doctors and nurses’ quarters, work on which was progressing steadily.

Projects

Touching on projects the government was executing at the national level, Mr Incoom mentioned the construction of 12,336 kilometres of roads, 12 interchanges, 151 astro turfs and 45 district courts among many others.

The DCE advised the electorate to vote massively in the upcoming general election to elect Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President of the republic and also retain George Kwame Aboagye as their legislator to continue to enjoy good governance and quality development projects.

He also urged them to intensify their campaigns to convince more voters including the undecided ones to vote for Dr Bawumia and Mr Aboagye.
