Calvary Methodist Church launches Centenary anniversary
The Calvary Methodist Church at Adabraka in Accra yesterday launched its Centenary Anniversary with a call for a deliberate action to invest in young adults and children as the church looks into the future.
The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Dr Paul Boafo, who made the call, said that was because youngsters were the leaders of today and tomorrow.

"For this church to continue, we need them in leadership positions; guiding them and investing in them, nurturing them and walking alongside them", he said, adding that young adults and children needed to be given what it took to be mature Christians.
Impact
The event was on the theme:"Calvary@100:Faith in the Triune God-Impacting the World".
In attendance were the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and the Chairperson of the Minerals Commission Board, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, among others.
It witnessed performances by the Christ Little Band and the Children's Department.
The 100th anniversary logo was jointly unveiled by the Most Rev. Boafo and Mrs Akufo-Addo. The centenary anniversary souvenirs and flag were also unveiled by the Presiding Bishop.
In his sermon, Most Rev. Dr Boafo said it would take the efforts of all those who were part of the society to nurture and consolidate the gains by investing in the young ones for them to remain in the church.

He said investment in youngsters should be in terms of mentorship, guidance and demonstration of interest in what they did.
"At the same time as a church, we should get a fund that would help them in entrepreneurship. It is all part of the investment we put in the little ones," he said.
Fellowship
Moreover, Most Rev. Dr Boafo said the church had an organisation that took care of the Sunday School and the youth fellowship, and that such an institution must be equipped and resourced enough so that it could help in the nurturing and the training of the young ones so that they would know what was good for themselves in order to stand for God and the family.
The Presiding Bishop charged the membership of the church to continue to build the society on the mission and the vision of the Methodist Church Ghana to be a vibrant spirit-filled community that brought about transformation in society.

Most Rev. Boafo indicated that the society must represent the light in a world that was full of darkness. He said 100 years was no mean achievement, and called for the celebration of God’s goodness.
Pacesetter
“Calvary is an institution, it has been a pacesetter, it has been in the forefront of evangelism, and in the forefront of making sure that people who migrated to Accra from the coast or the Ashanti Region or from anywhere, found a place if they did not understand the Ga language,” he said.
He said the church had grown not only in size over the years but in its role as the cornerstone of the community of the Methodist Church Ghana.
