Chango wins global award

Chango, a digital platform for group contributions and crowdfunding, has won the 2024 World Summit Award (WSA) in the Government and Citizen Engagement category.

Developed by IT Consortium Ltd, Chango was recognised for its innovative approach to enabling individuals and communities to raise funds with ease, trust and transparency.

The WSA awards acknowledge digital innovations that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Chango was among 40 winners selected from 29 countries, highlighting its impact on financial inclusivity and community development.

The awards ceremony will be held in India from April 6 to 9, 2025.

Commenting on the award, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IT Consortium, Romeo Bugyei, said it reaffirms the organisation’s commitment to developing fintech solutions.

"Chango is a financial tool that helps people support each other," he said.

"This award is a recognition of Africa's ability to create solutions that address societal challenges," Bugyei added.

He said Chango was launched in 2021 to address challenges in group contributions and crowdfunding.

He said the platform has powered fundraising campaigns for organisations such as the National Cardiothoracic Centre and the University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd.
