
Children of crashed victims to receive scholarships from B5 Plus, DPS School
A manufacturing company, B5 Plus Group, in collaboration with DPS International School, a private institution in Tema, has announced a scholarship package for children of the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.
At a brief but solemn ceremony at the Jubilee House to announce the package at the presidency, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, described the gesture as “a true act of corporate responsibility and compassion”.
Two children of each victim would receive full educational support at DPS International School in Tema, covering tuition, uniforms, and boarding, all the way to ‘A’ Level.
Beyond academics, the school is known for nurturing resilience, excellence and global opportunities.
Commendation
The Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs, Marietta Brew, lauded the initiative, calling it “a priceless investment in the future.”
She described DPS International as one of Ghana’s top institutions, producing world-class graduates.
“This act will be greatly welcomed by His Excellency, the President,” Ms Appiah-Oppong said.
Background
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight people who were heading for a national assignment at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The disaster struck at Adansi-Brofoyedu in the Adansi Akrofuom District.
The victims were: Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and the acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna.
The rest were a former Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong; a Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Samuel Aboagye; Wing Commander (then Squadron Leader) Peter Bafemi Anala, the pilot; Flight Lieutenant (then Flying Officer) Manaen Twum Ampadu, co-pilot, and Flight Sergeant (then Sergeant) Ernest Addo-Mensah, a crew member.
