DVLA inaugurate centre at Guama

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has inaugurated a centre at Guama in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region last Tuesday.

Hitherto, such licenses and certificates had to be acquired after travelling long distances to Ho, Hohoe or Accra. What existed there was a private vehicle test station that was limited to roadworthy renewals.

However, through a strategic collaboration with a private partner, Tacos JP Ltd, it has been transformed into an ultra centre fully equipped to offer the entire suite of DVLA services.

In his inaugural speech, the Oti Regional Minister, John Kudjo Gyapong, said the new centre was another example of the tangible benefits of Private-Public Partnership (PPP) to society.

He said that with its establishment, the centre has brought employment opportunities to the youth of the area.

Mr Kudjo Gyapong thus called for a good maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability of the centre.

Employment opportunities

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, was sure that with the inauguration of the centre, no vehicle owner would have the excuse of not possessing the required documents.

He advised the operators to make good use of the facility to ensure safe and trouble-free service delivery to the public.

The CEO of Tacos JP Ltd, Yaw Osei, who initiated the centre, said he decided to invest in the project to lessen the burden vehicle owners faced in acquiring the necessary licenses and certificates for their vehicles.

The Benkumhene of the Buem Traditional Area, Nana Obeng Ofori Appew VI, expressed his satisfaction that employment opportunities for the youth have come to the area.
