Embrace AI, data science to improve HR services — Telecel CEO
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telecel Ghana, Patricia Obo-Nai, has urged Human Resource professionals to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as an efficient tool for improving HR service delivery.

By automating and enhancing various processes, the technologies could streamline recruitment by analysing resumes and predicting candidate success, leading to faster and more accurate hiring decisions.
She also noted that, among others, they could improve employee engagement and retention through data-driven insights into satisfaction and turnover risks, enabling personalised development and wellness initiatives.
She underscored the need for employees to undergo digital awareness training, indicating that technology was the new “flavour” for building an inclusive workplace by eliminating bias in recruitment and identifying disparities within the organisation.

Ms Obo-Nai was speaking at the 12th Conferral and 16th Graduation Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM) last Friday.
It was on the theme: "Transforming HR through Emerging Technologies: Leveraging AI and Data Science for Competitive Advantage." In all, a Chartered Human Resource Management Practitioner status was conferred on 55 Level 4 students, while 133 Level 3 students were inducted into the institute as Associate Members.
Principles
The President of CIHRM, Dr Edward Kwapong, congratulated the graduates on their dedication and perseverance and urged them to integrate the principles of human resource management into their practices. She said they included professionalism, proficiency, principled outlook, performance orientation, people centrism, partnership and proactiveness.
Dr Kwapong further urged the graduates to appreciate the evolution of the HR profession, stressing that HR professionals should elevate the practice from an administrative function ultimately to a strategic business partner.

The CEO of CIHRM Ghana, Dr Francis Eduku, emphasised that the enactment of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1020) and Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2472) signified that the Human Resource Management profession had finally solidified in the country.
He further intimated that human resource management was a foundational pillar for building prosperous nations and urged the graduates to join the professional crusade to implement bleeding-edge HR practices in their organisations.
