Greater Accra Hotels Association strengthens ties with Nima Police Command

The Greater Accra Branch Executives of the Ghana Hotels Association have paid a visit to the Nima Divisional Police Command, marking a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the hotel industry and the law enforcement body.

The visit was aimed at fostering collaboration and discussing ways to tackle crime in the hotel industry.

During the meeting, the Commander of the Nima Divisional Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Reginald Solomon Osei, highlighted the evolving nature of crime and the need for hoteliers to be vigilant.

He emphasised the importance of sharing information and scheduling regular meetings with the police to stay ahead of criminal activities.

The commander also encouraged hoteliers to report any suspicious activities and to monitor their facilities closely.

The executives of the Ghana Hotels Association welcomed the commander's suggestions and agreed on the need for serious collaboration between the police and the association.

Nurturing relationship

The Chairperson of the association, Clare Banoeng-Yakubo, commended the police for their support and emphasised the importance of nurturing the relationship between the two parties.

She also highlighted the strategic role that the police play in providing insights into criminal activities in hotel facilities.

The Vice Chairperson of the association, Frieda Nwokolo, appealed for training for hoteliers on new trends in crime and how to deal with them.

She also raised concerns about staffing and data gathering from the police, highlighting the need for education on staff vetting and the costs associated with it.

The Immediate Past Chairman of the association and now a Patron, Benjamin Afunya, requested that dedicated officers be assigned to hotels and direct phone numbers to the police for facility owners to report issues.
