Hands of Gold presents free sanitary pads to Labone, Accra Girls students
Hands of Gold Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has given sanitary pads to girls in two second cycle schools in Accra.

They are the Labone Senior High School (SHS) and the Accra Girls SHS. Aside the pads, the schools were also given toilet rolls, markers and dusters.
Importance
Presenting the items, a board member of the NGO, Larry Botchway, said the organisation sought to ensure sensitisation on the importance of girl-child education.
Over the years, he said the organisation had been made aware of research which pointed to the fact that a lot of girls stayed at home during their monthly period.
He said it was in view of this that the organisation decided to support girls in order to assist them to be in school at all times.
Mr Botchway said the organisation last year launched “Project Four G”, which, among other things, was to get a pad, get educated and give life to the girl-child.
He said Hands of Gold Foundation valued and recognised all individual needs with respect to their dignity, individuality, integrity and freedom of choice that focused mostly on women and children.
Outreach
“As part of our outreach, here we are with this donation,” he said, adding that although the schools were in an urban area, there were a lot of disadvantaged students.

The Headmistress of the Labone SHS Rejoice Akua Acolor who received the items on behalf of the students, thanked the NGO for its support.
She said the items would go a long way to keep the girls in school.
