The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), has honoured the Chairman of the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Division of IET-Gh, Dr George Eduful on his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of Power Telco Business Limited, a subsidiary of the Electricity Company of Ghana.
It said his elevation to the distinguished office stood as a testament to an unwavering dedication, professional excellence and proven leadership acumen.
“Your tenure as Chairman of the Electrical/Electronic Engineering Division of IET-Gh remains particularly noteworthy, marked by vision, innovation and an enduring commitment to advancing professional standards.
“It is our firm belief that you will bring these same qualities - integrity, strategic insight and results-oriented approach-to your new role, thereby contributing meaningfully to improved power delivery and national development,” the citation presented to Dr Eduful by the President of IET-GH, Wonder Davor, said.
It emphasised that the citation was in recognition of “your well-deserved appointment and in celebration of your continued service to the engineering profession and to Ghana”.
Mr Davor repeated the saying that “the country that does not honour its heroes, is not worth dying for”, hence the decision to recognise and honour Dr Eduful, a professional who was doing so well in engineering.
“It is not just about getting money to appreciate someone; at least saying that you have done well whenever there is any opportunity … is good enough to motivate and encourage the person to do more,” he said.
Mr Davor said the honour from IET-GH was to appreciate Dr Eduful for his good works, which have been recognised by the ECG through his promotion to the level of CEO of its subsidiary.
Achievement
“We cannot let this go without acknowledging this effort and achievement. In short, the purpose for which we are here is to appreciate him and ask him to continue his good works,” he said.
A former President of IET-GH, Eric Atta-Sonno the honour was not only to appreciate Dr Eduful but also to encourage others to work hard to achieve similar honours.
“Dr Eduful has been awesomely good ever since he joined us,” he emphasised.
Motivate
For his part, Dr Eduful, who thanked IET-GH, said, “these are things that actually help to motivate the young ones to get into the profession”
He said he had joined the institution long ago and that it had stood by him through the period.
“I believe once you come out of school, we should not lose sight of the fact that there are professional bodies that are shaping us as we navigate our career paths.
Things like this go a long way to inspire the younger generation to see that at least there is a recognition in relation to any hard work,” he said.
Those present included Dr Miriam Eduful, wife of Dr Eduful; Vice President of Women in Engineering, Madina Seidu Adams; Mark Nyameche -Atu and Ernest Boampong Antwi, acting Executive Director, IET-GH.
