Lordina Foundation gives to 6 orphanages, Gambaga Witches Camp

The Lordina Foundation has supported six orphanages and the Gambaga Witches Camp it adopted with a number of items to ease the burden of the COVID-19.

Items donated to the homes and the camp included rice, cooking oil, assorted drinks, quantities of the Milo beverage, milk products, biscuits, diapers, toilets rolls, kitchen rolls, paper towels, bottled water, hand sanitisers and veronica buckets, among others.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiary orphanages were the Osu Children’s Home in Accra, FrankMay Children’s Home at Techiman, the Tamale Children’s Home, Christ Faith Forster Home, Bethesda Children’s Home at Techiman, and the Anfaani Children’s Home in Tamale.

COVID-19

The Board Chairman of the Lordina Foundation, Reverend Stephen Wengam, said in difficult times like what was currently being experienced the world over following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was always the vulnerable in the society who suffered the most.

He said the presentation of the items to the homes and the camp was to assist ease the burden of the disease on them and also keep them safe during the difficult period.

Spread of virus

Rev. Wengam said it was important for people to observe the standard protocols to prevent the spread of the virus and also for people to protect themselves from infection.

“Unfortunately, older people and persons with existing medical conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases, are said to be more likely to have serious complications when infected. Our support to the women is to help them protect themselves and prevent any infections within the camp. Together we can help stop the spread of COVID-19,” he said.

The Lordina Foundation has over the years worked closely with the management of the camp to support the women with basic needs.

The Coordinator of the Camp, Mr Samson Laar, on behalf of the women, expressed his profound gratitude to the Lordina Foundation for its continued assistance, and stressed that the items would be used for the intended purposes.

Former first lady

The Gambaga Witches Camp has over the years received various forms of support from the Lordina Foundation and, especially, from its President, Mrs Lordina Mahama, a former First Lady of Ghana.

The Lordina Foundation, founded by the former First Lady, has, in addition to its focus on supporting the needy, especially women and children, also adopted the six orphanages and the Gambaga camp, which it has consistently supported.
