NCCE Chairperson commends peaceful voting process - Urges Ghanaians to embrace electoral outcomes

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has commended the peaceful and orderly voting process in the 2024 elections.

She noted that the introduction of multiple voting points in areas with high voter populations had significantly eased pressure on queues and improved efficiency.

“In many polling stations, where numbers are usually high, the process has been divided into three sections. This has helped manage the queues effectively. While it may appear that voter turnout is low, the ballot boxes show otherwise.

A lot of voting has already taken place,” the chairperson said while speaking to the Daily Graphic at Akumaje Mantse Palace 1 polling station at James Town, Accra. 

She was conducting a monitoring inspection of various polling stations in Accra to assess the voting situation.

Ms Addy added that the presence of police officers, election observers and polling officials had ensured a smooth process, with no major incidents or complaints reported as of midday.

She further urged all Ghanaians to exercise their democratic right to vote, emphasising the importance of participating in the decision-making process.

“No matter how you feel about the situation, it’s important to let your voice be heard. Voting is a vital part of shaping the future of our nation,” she stated.

She also reminded voters to remain patient and accept the final results which would be declared by the Electoral Commission.

“At the end of the day, there will be one winner and many losers. It’s crucial to keep an open mind and understand that your candidate might win or lose. Regardless of the outcome, we must remember that Ghana is our only home,” she said.
