Violence erupts at Okaikoi Central collation centre
A violent confrontation occurred at the Okaikoi Central Constituency, as some agitated political party faithful broke into the constituency collation centre in protest over the parliamentary results declaration.
The teeming youth, believed to be supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), vandalised election materials, including the laptops and projectors used by the EC officials.

EC officials and pressmen fled for their lives through the windows of the classrooms where the collation was taking place in the constituency.
While the President-elect, John Mahama, maintained a comfortable win over his closest competitor, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the presidential race in the constituency, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the NPP, on the other hand, led the parliamentary results.
With just six polling stations out of the 141 polling stations in the constituency left to be collated to declare the final results of the presidential and parliamentary elections, Mr Mahama was in the lead with 21,809 votes, while Dr Bawumia trailed with 16,661 votes.
In the parliamentary race, Mr Boamah received 20,229 votes, with Baba Sadiq garnering 18,783.
There were 164 rejected ballots.
