NITA receives 3 management system certifications
The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has obtained three management system certifications that further repose confidence in its systems and operations.
They are the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) for Information Security Management System (ISMS), ISO/IEC 27001:2022; ISO 22301 for Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), and ISO 20000-1:2019 for Information Technology (IT) Service Management System (SMS).

NITA obtained compliance with the standards after rigorous external and independent assessment of its information security, business continuity and disaster recovery, and IT service management policies, procedures, and practices.
It is part of the agency’s commitment to protecting sensitive information and ensuring the highest standards of information security and privacy, business continuity, and IT service management.
A statement issued in Accra yesterday and signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, NITA, Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman V, said the certification was another significant achievement for NITA as a regulator in the IT ecosystem, as it confirmed its commitment to providing excellent and innovative technologies, standards, guidelines and best practices among government agencies and local governments, characterised by superior standards of security, quality, and excellence.
“Our commitment to protect information, ensure the continuity of our operations, and deliver exceptional IT services to our clients remain unwavering and we assure all our stakeholders of a continuous focus on excellence, information security, and business resilience.,” the statement said.
It added that attaining the certifications was an indication that NITA upheld its mandate to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information and ensure timely and effective response to incidents.
It also means the agency minimises the impacts of business disruptions, improve IT service, increase productivity, and ensure stakeholders demands are met.

“It is noteworthy to state that NITA becomes the first organisation in Ghana to attain certification to the three standards in an integrated manner, and the first government agency in Ghana to attain certification to the latest version of the ISO/IEC 27001 standard,” the statement explained.
NITA expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Board, the Management and Staff of NITA for the dedication in reaching the milestone and for the crucial role they played.
