Parents of Madina SDA Basic School urge govt to enhance security measures

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Madina SDA Basic School in the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality in the Greater Accra Region has called on the government to intensify security measures to protect their children, citing encroachment and illegal structures on the school premises as a major threat.

At a press conference, the PTA Chairman, Isaac Addo, expressed concerns about the safety of students due to unauthorised buildings constructed in the middle of the school.

He said despite reporting the issue to the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, the structures remained, which posed a risk to the children.

Pupils’ safety

Mr Addo emphasised that the Assembly had served warning notices to the owners to demolish the buildings by June 2024, but no action had been taken.

He urged the government to complete the demolition process to ensure the pupils' safety.

The PTA chairman reiterated that the parents were seeking urgent intervention from the government to resolve the issue and ensure a secure learning environment for their children.

Some of the parents who were present at the press conference highlighted the need for swift action to address the security concerns.

They emphasised that the government must prioritise the well-being and safety of their children.
