Rabito opens 19th branch at Ashongman

Rabito Clinic, a skin specialist hospital, has inaugurated its 19th branch at Ashongman in Accra to bring skin and general health care to the doorsteps of people in the area and its environs.

The clinic, which has started operation, offers services in dermatology and general medicine, including others such as a dietician, clinical psychologist, gynaecology, occupational health and wellness services, as well as telemedicine, where patients can consult with a doctor remotely.

Vision of Rabito

The Founder of the Rabito Clinics, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Professor Edmund Mwinyem Delle Chiir VIII, said the vision of Rabito Clinics had been to send health care to the gates of all Ghanaians, irrespective of their pocket.

“So, even where we find patients are unable to pay, I attached it with my African Commission of Health and Human Rights promoted, so that where the people cannot pay, the commission assists,” he added.

He said Rabito had come to contribute, not only to the health care of Ghana, but to the health care of all Ghanaians, all Africans, and the world at large.

Neglect of the skin

Naa Prof. Delle Chiir VIII expressed concern that the skin, the largest organ of the body, was the most important organ yet, had been ignored for centuries.

“Ours is not only to treat skin diseases, but to prevent the occurrence of skin disease.

That is why when we come here, we have not only medication, but you have education.

“We are able to educate you on the best cream that you are to use, the best source that you are going to use,” Naa Prof. Delle Chiir VIII said.

He said Rabito had also introduced a cosmetic clinic where staff would teach how to take care of the skin.

Furthermore, Naa Prof. Delle Chiir VIII said, “We have also added dietitians because the founder of medicine said, ‘Make food your medicine and medicine your food.’

“So, we now have dietitians who advise us on the type of food that you can take to remain healthy,” he said.

Black is beautiful

He expressed concern that the many years of colonialism had created the wrong impression that the black skin was not as good as white skin, leading the ladies to think that they had to change their skin to be beautiful.

“The black colour is very beautiful. We want to encourage you to keep your skin beautiful. And we shall show you the type of cream to use, so that you will keep free of skin problems,” Naa Prof. Delle Chiir VIII assured Africans.

He warned that in their attempt to change their black colour to fair by bleaching, they were exposing themselves to skin cancer, adding that research had proven beyond doubt that bleaching could lead to cancer.

Ebodiment

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rabitto Clinics, Banguu Delle, who welcomed the guests, said the new branch was a living embodiment of our mission and vision. It is not just a building—it is a promise: a promise of healing, of hope, and health equity.

“We are also proud to be creating jobs for local professionals and partnering the Ashongman community to promote preventive care, awareness and wellness for all.

“To the people of Ashongman: this clinic belongs to you, and we are here to serve you,” Mr Delle said.
