Rededicate efforts to speedy economic recovery • ICU to workers
The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has called on workers to rededicate and redirect their efforts towards speedy economic recovery and development.
It said the recovery should be in the areas of employment, health, education, social benefits and infrastructure by the government.
In a Christmas message to workers, the General Secretary of the ICU, Morgan Ayawine, said while the past year had been a challenging one, workers could look ahead with hope, with the assurance of things improving in the coming year.
He said the challenges of 2024 should serve as an experience to guide workers in the new year, encouraging them to have greater commitment and leverage the wind of change to step up their efforts at productivity to help drive economic growth.
He further encouraged the gallant workers of the country to continue holding high the flag of Ghana and work harder in their efforts at full recovery and sustainability of their employers’ institutions and organisations despite the economic difficulties the country was passing through now.
“All too soon, the year 2024 has gone almost its full cycle and is about to terminate its course soon.
“Lessons learnt, and experiences gained, should guide you as workers, to launch into the incoming year (2025) with greater commitment and leverage the wind of change blowing in the country, to step up your efforts at productivity within your respective workplaces, to help the government’s effort towards the resuscitation and growth of the Ghanaian ailing economy,” Mr Ayawine emphasised.
Partners
The ICU general secretary also reassured the union’s social partners, particularly employers, of its continued collaboration for increased productivity and profitability.
“To our social partners (employers), we wish to reassure you as a union of our continued and unstinting collaboration for increased productivity and profitability of your businesses, while at the same time, anticipate your reciprocity in offering optimum conditions of service for workers within your work organisations,” the ICU said in a Christmas message signed by its general secretary.
