Zenith Bank lights up Accra with festive glow

Zenith Bank Ghana has ushered in the Christmas and New Year festivities by lighting up major intersections in the national capital, Accra.

The light-up of the Zenith Heights and the Kotoka International Airport enclave, which has been held since 2018, is part of the bank’s effort to spread Christmas cheer and contribute to the beautification of the capital during the festive period.

The annual illumination event, launched at the Nine Lessons and Carols Night last Friday, December 12, at the head office of the bank in Accra, was to mark the beginning of the celebration of the Christmas season – symbolising the birth of Christ, hope, renewal and the enduring light that unites people across the world.

It also aims to reflect the strong bond between the bank and the community it serves and to serve as a reminder of the bank's resilience.

This year’s ceremony also coincided with the bank’s 20th anniversary.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Zenith Bank Ghana, Henry C. Onwuzurigbo, said the lights symbolised the joy of the season and the bank’s shared journey with its stakeholders.

Achievements

Reflecting on the milestone, Mr Onwuzurigbo said the bank had remained resilient and disciplined despite a challenging operating environment, while continuing to expand its product offerings and digital capabilities.

“In an environment that has tested many, we have remained focused, resilient and strategic, launching new products and enhancing our digital platforms to serve our customers better,” he said

He said the bank’s performance over the years had earned it several local and international accolades, including the Best Bank in Ghana and the Best Banking Group awards, among others, from reputable global institutions.

“These awards are based on critical analysis of our performance and affirm our position as a leading financial institution in Ghana,” he said.

Mr Onwuzurigbo further highlighted the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiatives within the year, including the establishment of a banking clinic at the Kumasi Technical University and plans to inaugurate a digital ICT hall at the University of Ghana.

He said the initiatives underscored the bank’s commitment to supporting education and national development beyond banking.

Carol

The programme earlier featured carol performances by staff drawn from different branches of the bank, creating a festive atmosphere as the Christmas lights were switched on.
