Ghana’s Ambassador to China presents credentials

Ghana's new Ambassador to China, Mr Anani Okuminyi Demuyakor, has presented his letters of credence to the Chinese President, Mr Xi Jinping, during which the two discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.

The ambassador, who arrived in Beijing two weeks ago, was among six  new ambassadors who presented their accreditation letters to President Xi at the The Great Hall of the People, the seat of the Chinese government.

 The other ambassadors were from Cyprus, Hungary, Macedonia, Myanmar, Rwanda and Bahrain. 

President Mahama's visit to China

After presenting his papers to President Xi, the two had a discussion during which it emerged that President John Dramani Mahama would visit China next month.

President Mahama's visit is at the invitation of the China Friendship Association with Foreign Countries to address the Forum on China-Africa Local Government Co-operation, which will take place in the last week of August, this year.

President Xi assured Mr Demuyakor of his support to ensure his successful tenure of office.

Replying, Mr Demuyakor recalled the relationship between China and Ghana, which dates back to July 1960, and stated that the ties between the two counties had now grown to greater heights.

He thanked President Xi and the people of China for their continued support to Ghana, especially for the development of its infrastructure.

Mr Demuyakor pledged to work hard to expand and consolidate the China-Ghana relations for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

The ambassador, who speaks the Chinese language, engaged President Xi, in discussion in the language to the admiration of the President.
