It follows the conclusion of most of the outstanding issues with the IMF.

The head of the government team negotiating with the IMF, Dr Kwesi Botchway, made this known when President John Dramani Mahama met the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) last Wednesday to review the ongoing negotiations with the Breton Woods institution.

A statement from the Flagstaff House said the meeting, the first in the year, also reviewed the implementation of the 2015 Budget and how to consolidate the gains made so far.

It also discussed extensively the impact of the world market price of crude oil on the Ghanaian economy.

Other discussions were on the Inter-ministerial committee on payroll, with a recommendation that the action plan be presented to Cabinet for consideration in the next few days.

Invaluable support

President Mahama thanked the group for its invaluable advice and the support it offered the government last year.

He urged it to continue with its good work for the benefit of the nation and its people.

Membership

The advisory group includes the Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Amissah-Arthur; an investment consultant and economist, Mr Kwame Pianim; a former Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, Dr K. Y. Amoako and the Finance Minister, Mr Seth Terkper.
