Grameen Foundation introduce mobile applications

Grameen Foundation, an international non-governmental organization that focuses on health and agriculture has introduced mobile applications for android phones as part of efforts to arrest the spate of infant and maternal deaths.

The Mobile Technology for Community Health (MOTECH) and its associated applications are designed for android phones for low literacy users.

The technology aims at empowering community health volunteers to recognise danger signs in the pregnant woman or newborn, and send a precomposed alert message to Community Health Nurses (CHNs), alerting them of the need to follow up on a client.

The products were showcased at an open house event in Accra on Tuesday.

The foundation, works with government agencies such as the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Agriculture, the private sector and civil society to improve health and agriculture outcomes for the poor and vulnerable in rural communities.
