Graphic holds get-together to celebrate anniversary of two publications

The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) last Friday held a get-together of management and unionised staff to mark the 65th and the 10th anniversaries of The Mirror and the Graphic Business, respectively, two of the company’s six newspaper publications.

The occasion was also meant for all workers of the company to fraternise in a cordial and relaxed atmosphere.

The Mirror was established in 1953, while the Graphic Business was set up in 2008.

Both newspapers have made strides over the years, delivering quality news to the public.

There was a lot to eat and drink on the occasion and a commemorative cake was cut to mark the 10th milestone of the Graphic Business, the youngest newspaper in the company’s stable.

Unity

Addressing the gathering, the acting Managing Director (MD) of the GCGL, Mr Ransford Tetteh, called for unity among the various departments of the company, saying such interaction and cooperation augured well for the development of the various units and the company at large.

"There has not been strong connection among the departments and as such there is no excitement. We want to revive the spirit of the company and today’s celebration should bring back the Graphic spirit.

“Let us forge strong bonds, work hard and Graphic can come back to its winning ways," he urged the gathering.

Mr Tetteh assured the workers of mouth-watering packages if they worked hard and delivered on their timelines.

"If we work hard and deliver the newspapers to consumers early, I can guarantee that all packages due you will be given you. That, I can assure you," he said.

Graphic Business Editor

The Editor of the Graphic Business, Mr Theophilus Yartey, for his part, said his team had laid a good and firm foundation and so there was hope of the paper becoming more resourceful and successful in the coming years.

"Moving forward, we will continue to be viable and profitable and we will never become a by-word. We will never be counted among newspapers that were set up but could not survive. That will never be our story because God is with us," he said.

He thanked the Graphic Business team for contributing to the success of the newspaper and commended past staff for laying a good foundation for it.
