Papaye Fast Foods, Accra Brewery Limited and Tobinco Pharmaceuticals have provided support in various forms to the two organisations in the exercise.

The exercise, which is expected to attract over 600 volunteers drawn from the two organisations and residents, will started at 7:00am

Some areas of the community – notably, Sahara, Odorna Clinic, Old Timers Spot, Adabraka Official Town Presby Church, Aponkye Spot and the local Mosque – were completely submerged by the flood, described by the aged in the area as the worst in their lifetime.

The floods left in its wake debris in the community, which continues to remind the residents of the havoc wreaked on them.

Damaged furniture, wet clothing and household equipment destroyed by the flood in various homes have been heaped on pavements indiscriminately.  Apart from being an eyesore, they portend danger as lack of running water in the area since June 3, 2015 continues to pose a threat to lives.

Added to this is the stench from stagnant water as well as from damaged clothing rendered useless by the mud that was deposited by the flood.

A drive through the affected areas revealed the critical nature of the prevailing situation as residents had resigned themselves to fate, with some openly declaring that they had nobody to turn to for assistance except to wait for divine intervention.

The Communications Manager of Zoomlion Limited, Mr Robert Coleman, indicated that adequate water tankers, refuse trucks, compaction trucks, wheel loaders, wheelbarrows, head pans, brooms, gloves, nose masks, tricycles, among other equipment had been mobilised by the company for the exercise.
