Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Mr Fredrick Bellson, the Officer in charge of Welfare of the Awutu Camp Prison, received the items.

Mr Saforo urged the inmates to use their time in prison for soul searching, personal development and spiritual upliftment.

That, he said, could lead to a total transformation which would eventually facilitate their easy reintegration into society after serving their sentences.

“Prisoners can be saved from many troubles when they continuously engage in these acts while serving their jail terms,” he said.

ASP Bellson expressed appreciation for the gesture and promised that the items would be used for the intended purpose.

According to him, the presentation of the books, for instance, would not only help eradicate boredom among the inmates but would also improve on their reading skills and knowledge acquisition.
