Kadjebi District honours 24 teachers
The Kadjebi District office of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has honoured 24 teachers for their hard work and dedication to duty, which saw an improvement in the performance of students in the district’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results this year.

The district recorded 33.9 per cent pass in this year’s BECE results, as against 23 per cent last year.
MP’s contribution to education
Addressing the ceremony, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akan Constituency, Mr Joseph Kwadwo Ofori, congratulated the awardees on their enormous contribution towards the upliftment of education in the district.
He stated that teachers needed to be recognised as one of the greatest assets for national development, indicating that he had so far sponsored 350 teachers and students to further their education at the various higher levels of education.
According to the MP, he had also used part of his share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) to roof a six-unit pavilion classrooms of the Kadjebi E.P Primary Cluster Of Schools, Pampawie R.C Primary and Asato R.C Primary Schools, and had distributed 39 computers to 10 schools in the district to enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Assembly’s contribution
The Kadjebi District Chief Executive, Mr Jacob Alebinde Asogonnde, called on parents to show interest in the education of their children because their future depended on the kind of education they would receive.
He said the Kadjebi District Assembly was currently constructing a six-unit classroom block for Kosamba D/A Primary School, three-unit classroom block for Ampeyo D/A Primary School, school kitchens for Poase Cement R.C Primary, Yaadzo Primary, Ketepii Primary and Obuase Primary School, among others.
Appeal to teachers
In his welcome address, the Kadjebi District Director of GES, Mr Augustus Asah-Awuku, appealed to teachers to accept postings to hard-to-reach communities where their services were most needed, adding that they must see the teaching profession as a call to serve humanity.

He said the directorate was facing a lot of challenges and that the most worrying problem was indiscipline among deviant teachers and pupils who engage in amorous relationship and called for a change in attitude among both students and pupils.
Acknowledgement
The Best Teacher for 2014, Ms Gifty Obeng of E.P Central JHS, Kadjebi, on behalf of the award winners, thanked the GES directorate for the honour done them.
She called on school management committees and parent-teacher associations to motivate teachers for them to do their best.
She also appealed to her colleagues to desist from deviant behaviour in order not to dent the image of the teaching profession.
The award winners were presented with tabletop fridges, gas cookers, cooking utensils, multi-TV decoders and certificates of honour.
