Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Dr Ato Arthur said the presentation was in response to an appeal made by the management of the hospital.

He also donated four street lights for the improvement of security at the hospital.

According to Dr Ato Arthur, he noted during his interaction with the staff of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital that the hospital had challenges such as generating enough internal revenue, unlike the other hospitals, and therefore had to rely heavily on government subvention and releases which  usually were not released on time and were inadequate.

He said psychiatric hospitals, dealt with people with special cases and special medications and required priority and special attention to be able to handle patients.

It was, therefore, time to take a look at mental health as a public health priority and called on individuals and corporate bodies to support the psychiatric hospitals, especially the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital.

The Medical Director of the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Kwaw Armah-Arloo, on behalf of the hospital, expressed his appreciation for the gesture and called on other individuals and corporate bodies to support the hospital to set up the laboratory as it would play an important role in mental health care delivery in the country.
