Keta citizens raise funds for hospital

The Keta Homecoming Group, a non-profit organisation made up mainly of indigenes of Keta in the Volta Region, is set to hold a charity event on Saturday,  April 30, at the Aborigines Beach Resort  to raise funds for the Keta Hospital.

The event will comprise a traditional foods bazaar, a jamboree, as well as assorted games and other fun activities.

“The one-day special event has already attracted considerable interest from well-known natives of Keta and many non-native Ghanaians and foreign visitors. We hope this becomes a great annual tradition," the Homecoming Group Chairman, Mr Sui Fiawoo, told the Daily Graphic.

He said proceeds of the charity and development bash would go to help refurbish the emergency centre at the Keta Hospital. It would also help in the  provision of medical equipment such as patient monitors, digital defibrillators, baby incubators and haemotology analyzers.

“The Homecoming Group is all about developing Keta and seeking the welfare of its people," Mr Fiawoo stated.

According to Mr Kofi Wemakor, Secretary of the group, it was founded in 2010 with the primary objective of using social events to generate funds to give back to the people of Keta.

“The nice thing about us is that there are also members from surrounding towns and across the whole country,”  Mr Wemakor stated.
