KNUST: Two former students banned from campus
The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has declared two dismissed students—Ransford Fosu-Boateng, popularly known as “Scammer Baby,” and Raphael Appiah Owusu—persona non grata following repeated instances of unauthorised entry onto campus premises.
In a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar of the University’s Relations Office, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, it was indicated that Fosu-Boateng was dismissed from the University on 21 March 2022, while Owusu’s dismissal became effective at the end of the 2023/2024 academic year.
Dr Bekoe noted with concern that despite their removal from the University’s roll, both individuals had continued to unlawfully infiltrate the University’s residential halls and facilities. He explained that their presence had been linked to disruptive behaviour, harassment of students, and repeated acts of indiscipline that threatened the safety and security of the University community.
He added that in a recent incident, the two were identified through CCTV surveillance as active participants in an unlawful assembly that resulted in vandalism and damage to University property.
According to Dr Bekoe, their persistent presence on campus constituted a serious violation of University regulations. He emphasised that they were no longer bonafide students and, as such, had no justification for being on University grounds.
“They have been declared persona non grata and are to be treated as trespassers should they be found within any part of the University community,” he stated.
He went on to caution current students to desist from associating with the dismissed individuals. Any student found aiding or facilitating their access to the campus, he said, would face strict disciplinary sanctions in line with the University’s code of conduct.
Dr Bekoe reaffirmed KNUST’s commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and academically focused environment for all legitimate members of the University.
