Kofi Jumah denied out of court settlement
A Kumasi Circuit court Tuesday refused a request for an out of court settlement by former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, who has been accused of kidnaping and assaulting one Jamel Agha.

The court, presided over by Mr William Boampong indicated that the case against Mr Jumah was a second degree felony and could not be settled out of court.
The case was adjourned to November 14, 2014.
Counsel for Mr Jumah, Kwame Adom Appiah, pleaded with the court for more time to enable Mr Jumah have ample time and space to offer his dead mother a befitting burial.
He said the accused and the victim were both members of the same extended family and that the out of court settlement would also engender peace and harmony, but this did not satisfy the court.
On October 5 this year, the Ashanti Regional Police arrested Mr Jumah for allegedly kidnaping Agha and together with others assaulted him in Kumasi.
The police earlier invited Mr Jumah but had to withdraw the invitation and cause his arrest because Mr Jumah had confirmed on radio that he assaulted Agha.
According to the police, Agha had lodged a complaint earlier that Mr Jumah, who was also a former Chief Executive of KMA, together with seven others bundled him into a vehicle and took him to Mr Jumah’s house where he was subjected to severe beatings.
Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusif Tanko, said the police after receiving Agha’s complaint of assault decided to invite Mr Jumah.
