The vehicle, which has an armoured shell and a cab and bullet-resistant glass, has been designed to resist bullets from handguns and rifles.

It was among a number of Kantanka vehicles, electrical and electronic items manufactured by the Kristo Asafo Group on display at the annual event, which was instituted in 1983.

Kantanka Ring Car

This year’s exhibition was touted as one of a kind, in that Apostle Safo exhibited a brand new vehicle known as the Kantanka Ring Car.

With this particular car, a driver only needs a specially made ring worn on any of the fingers to start it.

An electronic vehicle which operates without an engine was also displayed for public view.

Other vehicles that were exhibited include Kantanka pick-ups, saloon cars and sport utility vehicles (SUVs).

A 19-day Kantanka incubator, explosives and car engines were also on display.

Minister of Trade

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, commended the Kristo Asafo Group for the technological initiatives it had carried out over the years.

He stated that the government would do its best to ensure that government institutions and agencies would patronise the vehicles.

Mr Spio-Garbrah also called on unemployed graduates to approach Apostle Safo Kantanka for assistance in the areas of engineering and technology in order to put their skills to work.

He further called on the National Service Secretariat to consider posting service personnel to the KAC at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region to render their services in science and technology.

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Ebo Barton Odro, called for long-term funding for the Kristo Asafo Group to help it in its operations.

Some of the products that had been displayed at the exhibition over the past 33 year include cross-country vehicles, brick-making machines, cranes, rockets, fridges, television sets, six-cylinder car engine block, cylinder head, crank shaft and a security robot.

Other dignitaries

The occasion was graced by ministers of state, members of the diplomatic corps, Members of Parliament (MPs), chiefs and the 2016 running mate to the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
