The presentation was made at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, which was hardest hit by the twin disasters.

The General Manager of the hotel, Mrs Marigold Mingle, assisted by 30 staff members of the hotel, presented medical supplies, bed sheets, towels, pillows, 1,000 packets of cooked meal, 1,000 bags of mineral water and three tankers of potable water to the affected people.

Mrs Mingle said the hotel was touched by the plight of the victims and thus expressed the hope that the donation will help alleviate the suffering of the people.

She pledged La Palm’s commitment to continue to supply potable water to the people to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases in the affected area, where about 159 people died in the tragedy.

The General Manager, in the company of members of staff of the hotel toured the area and distributed the items to the affected homes to commiserate with the victims, whom she assured of the hotel’s continued support.

Water supply to Adabraka and surrounding areas, where the disaster struck, had been cut and many of the victims said they urgently needed water to wash their belongings, which they had salvaged from the floods.

The residents therefore expressed their appreciation to the management and staff of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel and Joy FM for bringing them water and the other items.

“This gesture is in line with our corporate social responsibility, which among other things, is to assist the needy such as victims of natural disasters,” Mrs Mingle said.
