Lordina Foundation donates to two homes

The Lordina Foundation has presented a quantity of items to the Osu Children's Home and Christ Faith Forster home at Frafaha in Accra in fulfilment of the foundation’s pledge to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged every year.

For this reason, the foundation has adopted a number of orphanages in some parts of the country, with the two orphanages in Accra receiving assorted items during the recent donation.

The items were made up of bags of rice, sugar, cartons of milk, assorted types of non-alcoholic beverages, fruit juice, cooking oil, biscuits and toiletries.

The foundation has remained committed to supporting the poor, needy and the less privilege.

Separate occasion

Presenting the items at two separate occasions in Accra last Tuesday, former First Lady Mrs Lordina Mahama pledged her continuous support for the less privileged and added that “the festive season could not pass without these children also having the cause to celebrate.”

She said Christmas was for children and it was important that people showed their love for children on the streets who needed care and attention during and after the festivities.

“Taking care of the less privileged is my passion, so I will continue to support them all the time,” Mrs Mahama indicated.

The former First Lady commended the directors of the homes for their dedication to duty and love for children and advised the children to study hard to become good citizens in future and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

As soon as Mrs Mahama arrived on the compounds of the two facilities, the children started running to embrace her, and it took management of the homes sometime to control them. She interacted and danced with them as they sang Christmas songs.

Benefactor

The Manageress of the Osu Children’s Home, Mrs Christiana Addo, said the former First Lady had been a long-time friend and benefactor of the home.

She thanked the former First Lady for the new block that had been constructed for the home and prayed that the Good Lord would continue to bless her abundantly so that she would also continue to be a blessing to the marginalised in society.

Very supportive

The acting Manager of the Christ Faith Foster Home, Mr Kofi Adu-Boahene, expressed his appreciation to the former First Lady for her kindness.

He said she had always been very supportive of the home not only during festive seasons but regularly, for which they were very grateful.

The two orphanages are part of seven others in the Brong Ahafo and Northern regions that have also benefited from these yearly donations.

The other five orphanages are the Anfaani and Tamale Children’s Home, Let The Kids Smile at Nkoranza, Frank May and Bethesda Homes at Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The foundation also provides support for the caregivers in the homes and help with their infrastructure development to improve the conditions there.
