Mahama condemns killing of 90-year-old woman over witchcraft suspicion
Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined other Ghanaians to condemn the killing of a 90-year-old woman at Kafaba near Salaga in the Savannah region, who was alleged to be a witch.
According to the former President, he has not been able to watch the video on how the old woman was subjected to inhumane treatment in the full glare of the community in which she lives.
“I’ve been unable to watch the whole video. Our society and institutions failed the poor 90 year old woman,” Mr Mahama posted on Facebook.

He questioned why the Assembly Members, Unit Committees, the Police and the BNI were unable to stop the dastardly act when it was happening.
“Where were our Assembly Members, Unit Committees, the Police and BNI when it mattered most? It was sad to see a crowd standing by and watching the gruesome spectacle,” he noted, saying the incident is “Very sad reflection on us as a people in the 21st century.”
Mr Mahama has, therefore, called for a swift action to be taken against the perpetrators in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
“At least an example can be set with the perpetrators to prevent any such future macabre incidents. I join Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang in condemning the killing and calling for justice for the family,” he said.
