Man arrested for alleged rape of pregnant woman
The Police in the Northern Region have arrested a 25-year-old man for the alleged rape of a pregnant woman in the bush at Tijo in the Mion District.
The suspect, Lukeman Sanche, is alleged to have pounced on the victim while she was herding animals and forcibly had sex with her.
According to the police, the suspect will be put before the Tamale District court today and the docket forwarded to the Attorney General office for advice.

The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mr Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, who briefed the media in Tamale last Saturday, said on December 11, 2019, Musa Braimah, a resident of Tijo, lodged a complaint with the Regional Crime Office that on December 9, 2019, at about 3 p.m., his seven-month old pregnant wife returned from the farm to inform him that while herding her animals, Lukeman Sanche came out from a nearby bush and forcibly had sex with her.
He said based on the complaint, a police medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination.
The medical form was returned, having been endorsed by a gynaecologist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) and indicated penetration.
Supt. Otuo Acheampong said on December 15, 2019 at dawn, the suspect was arrested and placed in police custody.
