Mawuli Atidoh, unemployed on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for attempting to rob a taxi driver and a commercial sex worker of their monies and personal effects.
He was charged with two counts of robbery and has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri has remanded Atidoh into police custody to reappear on May 29.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector E. Afful said the complainants in the matter are Daniel Awutey, a taxi driver, who resides at Dansoman in Accra and Najat Ibrahim Buba, unemployed and lives at Adabraka.
Chief Inspector Afful said the accused person resides at American House, near East Legon.
He said on May 13, this year at about 02:50 hours, Atidoh hired Mr Awutey from Christian Centre, East Legon to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
On reaching Shiashie, Atidoh directed the complainant to take him to Abeka-Lapaz to solicit the services of a prostitute which he obliged.
The prosecutor said at Lapaz, Atidoh went round a number of spots where prostitutes frequent but could not get his choice, and directed Awutey to continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
At Nkrumah Circle, the prosecution said Atidoh chose Najat and promised to pay GHC50.00 for her services.
The complainants and Atidoh then left to a place close to Royal Richester Hotel at East Legon, where Atidoh pointed to a house as his place of abode.
Prosecution said Atidoh then borrowed Najat phone to make a call for the gate to the house to be opened, so he could collect money and pay for the services of Awutey.
The prosecution said Najat told Atidoh that she had no units on her phone.
Atidoh then pulled a knife on Najat and collected her galaxy phone, dresses, shoes, make ups, and a sum of GHC8 all totaling GHC1, 000.
The suspect then moved Awutey, took his GHC 90 and tried to snatch the vehicle from him, but Awutey started shouting ‘armed robber’ and Atidoh bolted.
Prosecution said a report was made to the Police at East Legon and later Atidoh was spotted at American House and he was arrested.
