The company has also announced a one year (20,000 km mileage) free service on the purchase of any of its Tata cars from now till end of June.

The move, the company says, is in line with its vision to bring relevant products and services to the doorstep of Ghanaians while in pursuit of attractive opportunities as they emerge.

“The three Northern regions provide such opportunities which have necessitated the reinforcement of our presence here to share the benefits of our partnership with Tata with the region”,  the General Manager, Mr Amine Kabbara, told guests in his address.

Turning point

He described the event as a turning point in the company’s operations in Northern Ghana, stressing that “our operation would not be limited to after-sales, but sales as well since companies and residents would not need to go to Accra for purchases”

Mr Kabbara noted that MAS and Tata had solutions to the transportation needs of the region in respect of business or vehicle type. Tata range of commercial and passenger vehicles were affordable and designed to suit the environment, ideal for logistic services for the municipal organisations, operations of micro-finance, saving and loans companies, fast-moving consumer goods distribution, courier services,  he said.

The Area Manager, West Africa Tata Motors, Mr Bhanu, applauded Ghana for being one of the very stable and vibrant democratic countries of Africa and more especially the government’s efforts with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to bring in the investment and further enhance infrastructure in the Northern Region

He disclosed that currently about 7,600 Tata vehicles (3600 cars) were operating in Ghana which is an attestation of Ghana’s commitment to the Tata brand, expressing optimism that the inauguration of MAS-Tata branch in Tamale should further increase the interest in the brand in the area.

He said new and exciting products including Manza, Aria, Vista and Xenon were already available at the MAS-Tata Tamale branch.

Guest of honour

The Guest of honour, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Northern Regional Minister, was represented by his deputy Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini. In an address,  he commended MAS and Tata for the trust in the region which had informed their decision to invest in the new branch

Tamale, he said, was well noted as the fastest growing city in West Africa as such companies, especially those in the automobile sector, should take advantage of such opportunity to expand their businesses to even meet the market of neighbouring countries

MAS has been operating in Tamale for some years now under the umbrella of its mother company, Japan Motors, providing after-sales services for the brand of vehicles marketed under its franchise which includes Rexton from the SsangYong stable and light duty trucks from Foton. The company’s business in northern Ghana has seen an upward turn in recent years.
