The institutions are the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Ridge Hospital, Tema General Hospital, Police Hospital and Achimota Hospital.

The rest are the La General Hospital, Inkoom Hospital, Mana Mission Hospital, LEKMA Hospital, Christian Medical Centre and Cocoa Clinic.

The Director of Communications of the Melcom Group, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, said the move was to launch the foundation’s support infant care in 2016.

That, he said, was because the foundation’s support for health-care delivery remained a top priority since the country’s development depended on healthy people.

He recalled that it was for this reason that as part of its corporate social responsibility, the company was the first to support the June 3 flood and fire victims.

Aside that, he said, the company also supported the just-ended National Farmer’s Day celebrations with some equipment as its way of honouring farmers and fishermen.

Mr Avenorgbo said the company also made donations to Moree Senior High School, the Ghana Police Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Osu Children’s Home and other schools to motivate them to work hard.

“It is our belief that the development of our culture and nationhood can be achieved much more easily when children and the youth are taught values through civic education programmes”, he added.

Christmas activities
On what Melcom was offering to its customers during the festive season, Mr Avegnorbo said the company had planned a special Christmas sale for its customers.
Known as “Donkomi Ya Ti So”, he said customers would receive five to 70 per cent discount on all products in all 34 branches of the company.

He added that Melcom was distributing over 18,000 calendars and 50,000 pocket calendars for the year 2016 to customers who purchase items above GH¢₵75.

Mr Avenorgbo, therefore, encouraged Melcom’s customers to buy Melcom gift vouchers, which gave the consumer the “power to choose” from over 25,000 items.
