The Ghana Meteorological Agency has rendered an apology to the nation for its inability to notify Ghanaians of the rainstorm which marred the 57th Independence Celebrations in Accra ahead of time.

According to a statement signed by the Director General of the Agency, Group Captain Stephen Komla (rtd), the agency apologised, especially to the President and the school children who were drenched by the rain.

It said management’s attention has been drawn to various interviews which were granted to media houses by some personnel from the agency.

Disassociating itself from those interviews, the Agency noted that those personnel spoke as individuals and not on behalf of the agency because they were not on duty and could therefore not have known the details of what the actual situation was.

The Agency also gave an assurance that all its technical needs were before government and would be addressed at the appropriate time.
