MMT concerned about comfort, health of passengers

The Metro Mass Transit says it is working on complaints from the public about the hygienic state of some of its buses.

It said it was concerned about reports of unsanitary conditions of its buses and bus terminals and was, therefore, taking steps to deal with the situation.

The acting Head of Communications of the company, Ms Bernice Akologo, said the reports came as a surprise because cleanliness was an important value of the company.

She spoke to the Daily Graphic in reaction to a letter published in the newspaper where a Metro Mass patron, Mr Moses Sackie Agbemava, complained about the filthy look of an Accra-bound bus he picked from Nkawkaw.

The passenger also had issues with the dirty nature of the bus terminal.

Ms Akologo said the situation was regrettable but added that the company was grateful that the issue had been brought to its attention.

She said the company would use the upcoming National Sanitation Day on Saturday to clean the terminal in question.

The Metro Mass passenger also complained about poor customer service on the bus.

But Ms Akologo said the company would continue to train its drivers and conductors to better respond to customers’ needs.

She, however, appealed to passengers to cooperate with the drivers and conductors to ensure incident-free trips.
