Mr Yahaya Alhassan in a chat with Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Ademola Oluseyi

'Mobile phone dealers must be competitive'

The CEO of Start in Ghana Investment Limited, Mr Yahaya Alhassan, has urged mobile phone dealers in Ghana to compete with their Nigerian counterparts in the market and not to engage in blame games.

Start in Ghana Investment Limited is an investment group promoting businesses within Africa, particularly Ghana.

Mr Yahaya was responding to issues raised during a press conference by mobile phones dealers in Ghana, who are saying that Nigerians were invading their market.

He called on Ghanaian traders to consider Article 3 of the ECOWAS treaty, which focuses on trade harmonisation, cooperation and integration.

Ghanaians, he said, had continuously lived and worked in Nigeria and the same could be said of Nigerians, and according to Mr Yahaya, calling for a breach in any trade regulations could only cause a backlash to the countless Ghanaians earning their living in Nigeria.

He said the friendship between Ghana and Nigeria could be traced to the time of the good relations between Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Nnamdi Azikiwe “when the two united to liberate us from colonialism”, he said.

He commended the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Ademola Oluseyi, on his effort to project the good image of Nigeria in Ghana.
