Tetteh was charged with the murder of Michael Akakpo Acquaye, 35. His plea was, however, not taken when he appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on April 21, 2016.

The court, presided over by Mr James Kojo Bota, remanded him in police custody for two weeks while investigations continued.

The facts of the case as presented by Chief Inspector Gregory Yeboah are that, Tetteh is a mortuary attendant at the SSNIT Hospital, while Naomi, the complainant, is a relative of the deceased.

The prosecutor said on April 11, 2016 at 10:00 p.m., Tetteh had a misunderstanding with his nephew, one Okanta S.O. which led to Tetteh using a pestle to hit Okanta’s head.

Acquaye rushed in and took the pestle from him.

Chief Inspector Yeboah said later, Tetteh went to the house, took a knife and hid it at his back. He then confronted Acquaye and engaged him in a fight.

According to the prosecutor, in the course of the fight, both men fell in a gutter with Tetteh lying on top of Acquaye. Tetteh proceeded to stab Acquaye twice around his left breast region.

Acquaye started bleeding and was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The prosecutor said Naomi reported the incident to the Mamprobi Police Station, leading to the arrest of Tetteh by the Night Patrol Team.

Tetteh was subsequently transferred to the Dansoman Division for investigations, where he admitted to the offence and the knife he used was retrieved from him.
