Prosper, who was charged for riding without a license, using unregistered motor bike, failing to wear protective helmet and refusal to send the bike to the police station, pleaded guilty to all the charges.

He was sentenced to pay a consecutive fine of GH¢200 on the four charges or in default serve three months for each of them.

Prosper could, however not raise the total of GH¢800 to settle the fine and is therefore serving 12 months sentence at the Akuse prison.

The facts of the case as presented to the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court by the prosecutor, ASP Monica Anku, were that on March 9, 2016 at about 1:30p.m., the complainant and a colleague were on traffic management duty at Agomanya and saw Prosper riding an unregistered motor bike with a pillion rider from the Kpong direction towards Somanya.

She told the court, presided over by Mr Gbeddy, the complainant observed that Prosper and his pillion rider failed to wear protective helmets and stopped them at Agomanya near the first market junction.

The prosecutor said when the police officer asked Prosper to produce his license for inspection, he refused.

He was therefore, arrested and instructed to ride the motor bike to the Odumase Krobo police station but he refused.

As a result, the police officer attempted sending the motor bike himself but Prosper  resisted the attempt and in  the process, hit the police officer with an iron bar, hurting him on his left hand.

The prosecutor said a struggle ensued between Prosper and the policeman but with the assistance of the other police officer, he was over powered and sent to the police station.
