Mrs Amissah-Arthur supports Bridgewater Project
The wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has advised young mothers to spend hard-earned income on the education of their children.
She said the education of children should be the most important priority of every woman since that was a positive step to guaranteeing the welfare of the children and their mothers in their old age.

She gave the advice at a ceremony to support the Pamela Bridgewater “Kayayei go to School Campaign”, an initiative aimed at enrolling school-age children of female porters in school.
Mrs Amissah Arthur hosted officials of the Pamela Bridgewater Project and the children being sponsored under the project, at her Roman Ridge office in Accra, where she donated educational materials and school fees to the children.
Upbringing of children
According to her, it was very important for women to channel all their resources towards the proper upbringing of their children than expending their monies on frivolous things.
The Project Director of the Pamela Bridgewater Project, Mr Yahaya Alhassan, lauded the Second Lady for continuously promoting education in the country and called on non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to come up with initiatives and positive programmes to tackle the kayayei problem.
The 12 beneficiaries are aged six to 13. One of the beneficiaries, who was presented with a laptop by the Second Lady, thanked her for her motherly support and urged other mothers to follow her shining example.
