The Senior Manager, Data, Devices and Home of MTN Ghana, Gloria Adutwumwaa Frempong, has underscored the company’s commitment to driving innovation in the housing sector through technology-enabled solutions that make homes smarter, safer and more sustainable.
Speaking at the opening of the Daily Graphic/GREDA Home Fair at the Accra Mall Food Court on Thursday, Ms. Frempong said MTN’s vision of smart living is no longer futuristic but “is unfolding before us” through the power of fibre internet, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

“This fair is more than just an exhibition. It is a celebration of innovation, a showcase of cutting-edge technology, and a testament of our dedication to delivering exceptional value to our customers,” she told the gathering. She explained that MTN’s smart home offerings go beyond convenience, providing energy efficiency through smart appliances, enhanced safety with mobile-enabled security systems, and immersive experiences through gaming and virtual reality tools.
“Indeed, smart homes offer real and impactful benefits. They promote energy efficiency through smart lighting and appliances. They elevate everyday living by automating tasks and enabling remote management of the home environment. They also enhance safety with intelligent security solutions that allow homeowners to monitor their property remotely,” she added.
Ms. Frempong also highlighted MTN’s commitment to sustainability, noting the company’s pledge to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. “This is not just a corporate milestone, it is a promise to future generations,” she said, pointing to MTN’s investment in renewable energy and eco-friendly housing solutions such as solar-powered systems and energy-efficient devices.
Beyond technology, she said MTN was working closely with Ghanaian innovators and builders to ensure its solutions respond to local needs while opening opportunities for young entrepreneurs and engineers to thrive in the digital economy. “We see smart homes as a cornerstone in building connected, sustainable communities where technology serves both people and the planet,” she said.
The three-day fair, jointly organised by the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) and the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), is being held on the theme: “Technology-Enabled and Eco-Friendly Housing: Now and the Future.”
It features exhibitions by real estate developers, banks, mortgage providers, technology firms and building material suppliers, alongside dialogue sessions with institutions including the Lands Commission, the Ministry of Works and Housing, and the State Housing Company Limited.
Headline sponsors MTN and Samsung are showcasing smart living technologies, while financial institutions such as Access Bank and Salem Investment Limited are providing guidance on mortgage and housing finance.
The event, which runs until Saturday, August 30, is expected to serve as a one-stop platform for housing stakeholders and prospective homeowners, and one of the most significant gatherings on Ghana’s housing calendar this year.
