The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Greater Accra Region for buying into his campaign message of change and voting massively for him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Addressing the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa yesterday, he said from the 14 seats in the region that the party had in Parliament, due diligence by the good people of the region had given the party 21 seats in the region, culminating in the NPP securing a majority in Parliament.
Nana Akufo-Addo, who was accompanied by his wife, Rebecca, and several NPP bigwigs, said it was only appropriate that he came back to show his appreciation.
He told the chiefs that he would depend on them for advice to lead Ghanaians, saying that wherever and whenever he would go wrong, they should not hesitate to draw his attention.

'My doors are open'
"My doors are wide open. I count on your support. It is all about Ghana and how to make the country move forward. We must let the Black Star of Africa shine again," he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo also told the chiefs that he was committed to fulfilling all the promises he had made to the good people of the region and the entirety of Ghanaians.
"Ghana can work again; Ghana must surely work again. The NPP has an abundance of human resource with the requisite skills set to work at bettering the lot of the good people of this country," he added.
He called for the full support of Ghanaians in working hand in hand towards the re-direction of the fortunes of the country onto the path of growth, prosperity and progress.
The Wulomei or fetish priests of the traditional area performed sacred rites for him and asked for the protection of the gods for him, his family and his administration.
For her part, Mrs Akufo-Addo said as an indigene of the traditional area, it was gratifying that the chiefs and people of the area had made the vision of her husband to serve the country become a reality.
She assured them that with her, the chiefs would have unhindered access to the President-elect and urged them not to hesitate to let her know about any matter that required the attention of her husband.

Let's condemn the violence
The President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona, recalled that the last time Nana Akufo-Addo visited, the chiefs had prayed for peace before, during and after the elections.
He said God had answered their prayer and given the country one of the most peaceful elections ever to be held in the country.
He, however, added that reports of violence against political opponents, as well as the forcible seizure of tollbooths and public toilets, would not augur well for peace and harmonious co-existence and urged Nana Akufo-Addo to add his voice for sanity to prevail.
Nii Dowuona also pledged the support of the chiefs towards the success of Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration and the progress of Ghana.
