The programme will focus on core subjects, namely English, Mathematics, Information Technology (IT) and the Science subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics.

The Foundation in Science is recognised in USA, Malaysia and all European countries, with Britain leading.

This programme will prepare senior high school science students to qualify for the Allied Health Technology courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy, as well as Architecture,  and Engineering among other courses.

A statement issued by the Narh-Bita College said on successful completion of the course, students could gain admission to both local and foreign institutions without entrance examination.

It said Mahsa University would run a postgraduate programme to upgrade the Narh-Bita teaching staff from first degree to Master’s and  Doctorate levels within five years.

“Narh-Bita’s collaboration with Mahsa University shall also involve exchange of academic materials and information, joint research activities, publications and also exchange of lecturers and students,” it said.

The statement explained that another development was that the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana had also accredited Narh-Bita College to train health assistants, clinical and community health nurses in midwifery to address the problem of shortage of midwives in Ghana and to promote maternal and child welfare issues concerning their health.

The programme will start in September 2014.
