That was the outcome of a meeting between the New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr John Key, and the Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

According to Mr Key, the political stability that Ghana has enjoyed over the past two decades and its refined democratic process,  which he described as the best in the West African sub-region,  make the country the ideal destination for investment.

He said pursuant to the opening of the mission, the foreign ministers of the two countries would meet in March 2015 to set up a road map towards that objective.

The New Zealand Prime Minister said Ghana had a conducive investment climate under which investors  could reap maximum returns on their investment.

For his part, the vice-president welcomed the move by New Zealand to establish a mission in Ghana, saying it would go a long way to deepen the relationship between the two countries.

He said Ghana was endowed with fertile lands, huge mineral deposits and a standing corps of skilled workers whom investors could hire for their activities.

Mr Amissah-Arthur suggested that New Zealand could invest in the energy sector on a public-private partnership, as well as the oil and gas industry by encouraging its investors to invest in the ancillary concerns associated with the industry.

He said New Zealand could also invest in the country's agricultural sector and help add value to the country's raw materials.

The vice-president also touted the country's democratic credentials, stressing that investors had nothing to fear, since democracy had gained deep roots in Ghana.
