Parents to pay GH¢310 at Premium Centres for children’s Ghana Card
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has commenced the registration of children aged six to 14 years for the Ghana Card, starting at its Premium Centres nationwide.
In a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday [September 10, 2025], signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, the Authority said the exercise forms part of its mandate to capture every Ghanaian in the national identity system from childhood.
Currently, registration is available only at Premium Centres, where parents or guardians must pay GH¢310. The NIA clarified that this is the approved fee for services at the centres and not a new charge.
Parents will also be required to provide proof of the child’s identity. Acceptable documents include the child’s valid Ghanaian passport, an original birth certificate, or the Ghana Card of a parent or guardian who can vouch for the child.
To improve access, the Authority announced that from Monday, September 15, 2025, its online booking system will cover all 11 Premium Centres nationwide, allowing families to schedule appointments in advance.
The NIA further disclosed that registration for children will be extended to all District Offices in the coming weeks to make the process easier for families outside major cities. Cards for children who complete the process will be issued shortly after registration.
The Authority urged parents and guardians to take note of the requirements, stressing that the inclusion of children is part of efforts to ensure universal registration of all Ghanaians.
