Nkonya, Alavanyo conflict claims one more life
Just recently, two persons from Nkonya-Tayi were killed, with one of them being decapitated. They were Anthony Akoto, 52, and Michael Sarpong, 48, who was beheaded.
On December 29, last year, security was beefed up in the area following two separate shooting incidents in which one person from Alavanyo died.
When contacted in Ho, the Volta Regional Police Commander, Mr Alex Bedie, could not deny or confirm the story, except to say that he had deployed personnel to the field to ascertain the facts.
According to him, there were three versions to the latest incident and that he could not mislead the public until the officials returned from the field.
Mr Bedie appealed to the people of Alavanyo and Nkonya to comply with the rules of the mediation committee in order to find a lasting solution to the problem between them.
Several interventions have been made and continue to be made at finding a lasting solution to the conflict, which has damaged the image of the area and the region, but to no avail.
